About this product
18th Century Chippendale Mahogany Armchair
Unlike many chairs we find from this period the chair is of generous proportions, which in combination with the richness of the mahogany timber used and therefore the overall solidity of the chair, allows it to be used by just about anybody that so wishes. Certainly it is more than fit for original purpose.
It has been recently reupholstered, meaning that should the rather attractive current fabric covering not be to the purchasers taste, it would be a relatively inexpensive task to have the seat covered in a fabric of their own choosing. That said the current fabric is in excellent condition and works extremely well on the chair.
A fabulous quality, elegant and practical mahogany chair which dates to the Chippendale period of the 18th century. It can be narrowed down to this date based on the design of the carved back and square chamfered legs along with the quality of craftsmanship shown in the carved decoration and the rich mahogany timbers used for its construction. It should also be noted that the carved decoration to the back is of both an unusual, extravagant and elegant design, but also exceptionally well executed.
