Made from Ironstone which is porous earthenware – made of clay mixed with Feldspar. It states on the reverse of the plate that it’s “DISHWASHER SAFE” but I wouldn’t risk it.

1960s mid century modern Johnson of England dining plate from the “Sahara” range. A striking and vibrant design of a square split into four quadrants each with a single circle inside of yellow and orange. The square is set into the plate with the edge slightly raised around it.
Made from Ironstone which is porous earthenware – made of clay mixed with Feldspar. It states on the reverse of the plate that it’s “DISHWASHER SAFE” but I wouldn’t risk it.
In good vintage condition with one tiny blemish close to the centre on one of the orange circle/yellow squares.
Marked on the base: Snowhite. I (Crown) R, Johnson Bros. MADE IN ENGLAND. IRONSTONE. SAHARA. DISHWASHER SAFE.
