About this product
Children’s, or child’s, chairs as the name suggests were made throughout the 18th and 19th centuries normally as scale models of their full-size counterparts for the children of the family to use. They come in all sorts of scales, shapes and sizes dependent of course on the age of the child they were initially made for and the style of the existing furniture within a home. This is an unusual example of a Popular Style with the original function clearly having been as a commode-type chair for a toddler.
