Antique Blue and White Chinese Jar Qing Dynasty

A fine 18th century Chinese Kangxi period blue and white lidded ginger jar depicting an emperor or noble man mounted on a Qilin or mythical beast and being escorted by his entourage. The lid depicting Bats in flight. 

Note of interest. The Qilin is a mythical beast, in Chinese folklore being the harbinger of a change of rule, perhaps the death of an emperor or rise of another

The carved wooden base is included in the lot, however this is of a much more recent date.
