An antique 19th-century exceptionally rare Victorian Solid Silver Novelty bear baiting desk inkwell, realistically modelled as a bear chained to rugged staff, the hinged head as a cover.
Each part is Hallmarked English silver (925 standard), Sheffield, year 1885 (S), Maker’s mark “C.F” (probably Charles Favel of Creswick & Co).
