Harold Brownsword
Sculptor in bronze, wood and marble. Born in the potteries area of the West Midlands, son of a book-keeper at Wedgwood’s, Brownsword studied at Hanley School of Art, then at the Royal College of Art, 1908–13. While at Hanley he won a gold medal for the design of a sundial, at the Royal College winning a travelling scholarship to Rome
