The M.T. Casper Trader Monrovia was built in 1971 by Kawasaki at Kobe, Japan for the Hancock Shipping Co. Ltd., Monrovia. On 23rd May 1984 whilst on voyage from Sakaida to Dumai, Indonesia, she suffered a huge engine room fire in position 7.26N/108.22E in which three crew members lost their lives.
The vessel was left to burn under supervision. She was declared a constructive total loss and towed to Kaohsiung via Singapore to be broken up in August 1984.
