About this product
Tea was an extremely valuable commodity throughout the course of the 18th and 19th centuries. Therefore of course something was required to store the precious tea leaves in and ensure that they remain in their peak condition for as long as possible, whilst at the same time offering a little security to stop any wandering hands.
The mahogany used to construct this tea caddy is good, rich timber and retains an attractive colour and patina. It is also nice to note that it comes with original brass handle and is still standing on its original ogee feet.
It is also particularly unusual in terms of the shape, which is referred to as “bombe” and is defined by the outward bulging design.
