“Le Pont Des Arts” In Paris By Antoine De Margerie.
After his childhood spent in Paris, then in Auvergne, during the war, Antoine de Margerie first lived with his parents in the various diplomatic posts occupied by his father, Christian Jacquin de Margerie, in Madrid, Washington, Rome and then Berlin.
From 1953, he did his secondary studies at the Saint-Louis-de-Gonzague high school until the baccalaureate in literature, which he obtained in 1959. Art was part of his environment: one of his uncles, Paul de Laboulaye 1902-61, was a painter and played a very important supporting role in his nephew’s adolescence. Bonnard is one of the artists whose canvases hang on the walls of family apartments.
In his personal logic which is that of art, but not that of his parents, worried about this off-piste choice, he tries to reassure them by enrolling in letters and following courses at the Ecole du Louvre and the Institute of Art and Archeology of the Sorbonne. From 1964 he devoted himself entirely to painting.
