The city of Kashan, located in central Persia, is known as one of the greatest classical Persian weaving centres. His work is characterized by its remarkable quality and design, subtle colours and the use of fine imported merino wool.
An exquisite Kashan rug from the word renown master weaver Montashem, dating circa 1880. This early rug has a remarkable high density of knots which explains the clarity of its crisp drawing. The fine imported merino wool feels like a handkerchief – like to the touch. This beautiful example is spaciously drawn in relation to its format with charming variety of vegetable dyed colour combination.
