Rare Antique Set Of Shop Display Henry Maxwell Box Spurs
Henry Maxwell of London, a spur-making firm founded in 1750 that expanded into other horse gear, exhibited at the 1851 Great Exhibition, and is credited by some with invention of the box spur in the very early 1800s.
The display stand was made by James Shoolbred & Co, J which is stamped on the base, J. Shoolbred is famous for manufacturing and selling its own high quality antique furniture and shop displays in their thriving and fashionable furniture shop.
