Sheraton Period Satinwood Side Cabinet
This extremely functional piece of late 18th century furniture is both exceptionally elegant and also wonderful quality. Clearly constructed in a top London workshop of the late 18th century for a well heeled client it boasts high grade, well figured satinwood veneers, quite wonderful hand painted decoration and superb quality of construction.
Typical in design for the late 18th century sheraton period it is very much refined with much more effort to create a decorative design finish that the plainer items which were being produced just a decade or two earlier in hepplewhite and chippendale times. The emphasis is very much on decoration & figuring of timbers rather than elaborate carving.
