About this product
Small Georgian Mahogany Secretaire Bookcase
This charming little 18th century, georgian, mahogany bookcase is in many ways an absolute typical example of the chippendale period, but it has a few features which lift it up and beyond the norm so to speak.
Firstly it boasts an excellent small, functional, practical size which would allow it to be used in just about any environment one could imagine. Unlike so many bookcases of this period the size means it boasts real elegance and this is further enhanced by the additional design elements such as the inlaid cornice, beautifully fitted secretaire drawer and lovely astragal glazed decoration.
The bookcase also retains an excellent colour and surface, it has clearly never been stripped or repolished or anything like that and the rich mahogany timbers which have been used in its construction now boast a lovely rich, warm, colour to them which would be impossible to recreate.
