About this product
These window seats, or hall benches, generally follow a relatively similar theme in terms of their design throughout the regency and victorian periods. However as with many things the quality of construction and timbers used can vary quite wildly.
Another thing which varies quite significantly is their size, with it possible to find tiny one person seaters through to some particularly grand ones which can be as long as 8ft. As the description suggests they were often dual purpose in terms of their original construction, designed to sit either underneath a window, or along the wall of a hallway or similar.
This particular victorian hall bench is a particularly good size, much longer than the average and also a little deeper. It has great presence and is constructed from good quality mahogany which retains an attractive colour and patina.
