About this product
The confusion lies in the fact that Albert Weiss and Rudolph Weiss are often linked together and documented simply as Weiss Jewellery – this is a misconception. In some publications, it is not recognised that the two are different and distinct, with no reference to Rudolph Weiss. The factual evidence is that Albert Weiss went out of business in 1971, whereas Rudolph Weiss continued in business until he sold the business to Wilhelm Kamp in 1985, who continued to produce the jewellery designs using the WEISS mark.
The construction techniques of Albert Weiss and Rudolph Weiss are very different. Rudolph Weiss pieces are finely constructed with hand-soldered elements often set with vibrant coloured stones with an emphasis on evening jewellery. Pieces that appear in German Auction houses are quite elaborate and sophisticated in design. Albert Weiss favourited the use of clear rhinestones with black diamonds or aurora borealis, whereas Rudolph was more flamboyant with the use of stones – vibrant colours and pastels. Albert Weiss was excellent in marketing his business, promotion and advertising, whereas Rudolph Weiss was the master designer and manufacturer.
